It’s almost the New Year and I bet your social media and inbox is flooded with messages urging you to pick your ‘diet’ for the new year and repent of all the holiday excesses.

That’s not how we do things around here.

You see, for years I was in the ‘feast and famine’ mode, enjoying all the delicious holiday food, and then taking up a punishing January ‘diet’, well for a week or two at least, while it lasted!

Let’s talk about the holiday season for a minute. For most people it’s a time of celebration, gatherings and many foods that symbolic of the holidays. For others the holidays can be an emotional and stressful time, and comfort foods the order of the day.

No matter what, shame is not what we want to put on your holiday indulgences and celebrations. Honor this time of your life, honor the season, honor your body.

So how should we tackle the January ‘diet’ season?

By removing the word ‘diet’.

Focus on the vision for your life for 2020, and how you want to feel. Do you need more energy? To sleep better, to reduce bloat and puffiness, to move around without pain?

My clients love chocolate, wine and good food and so do I. The thing is, at the tail end of the holiday season, I can tell I just don’t feel as comfortable as I should, and that’s due to inflammation.

Our bodies are pretty smart, doing a good job moving toxins on a daily basis, but when we are exposed to a continuous stream of internal and external toxins, these build up, resulting in inflammation, the #1 cause of disease and aging.

My focus for January is in honoring my body and giving myself space to heal, by reducing inflammation. All those delicious foods like cheese and crispy appetizers tend to promote Advanced Glycation End Products or A.G.E.s in the body, which spells inflammation and advanced aging, so I’m going to ease up to allow the healing.

It’s like peeling layers of an onion to reveal the healthy me, and I am ready!
